Turkey does not intend to cut off electricity and water supply to Syria, despite tense relations with Damascus.
“Turkey will continue to supply Syria with electricity and water that is supplied to the country through the Iraqi territory,” ” said Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Taner Yildiz on Wednesday.
Turkey supplies 232.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity to Syria every month.
Turkish and Syrian relations are experiencing tension after Turkish Air Force F-4 jet, departing from the Erhac airbase in the Province of Malatya, was shot down by Sryia.
Syria argued that the air plane was flying over Syrian territorial waters when it was shot down. However, Turkish military officials said that ”the F4 jet was shot down in international airspace and its wreckage fell into Syrian territorial waters.”
