NEW YORK- Britain’s longest reigning monarch is dead at age 96, Buckingham Palace announced. Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully in her sleep, this afternoonaccording to the palace report. Prince Charles immediately became King of the United Kingdom upon her death, his wife Camilla will now be known as Queen Consort. The Queen’s reign lasted 70 years and she was praised for being able to unite people of diverse backagrounds and different generations.
