Turkish Journal – Şevval Erdağ – The first annual Jadal Summit took place from January 26-28, 2025, at the Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women in Doha, Qatar.
The summit brought together over 100 Muslim women from around the world, including scholars, researchers, and practitioners.
Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, attended the opening day of the summit and emphasized the significance of the event. “Through Jadal, we honor the Quranic concept of jadal as praised by Allah in Surat al-Mujadilah and embodied in the story of Khawla bint Tha’laba,” said Sheikha Moza.
The Jadal Summit served as a platform to build valuable connections and create a community focused on addressing issues affecting Muslim women in public life. The event was organized around the main themes of Muslim Women and the Law, Women’s Lives and History, and Muslim Women’s Well-Being and Health. A series of insightful panels were also held, covering a wide range of topics under these themes.
One of the participants reflected on the significance of the summit, stating, “Jadal was a conference that aimed to empower women and help them gain knowledge about different aspects of women’s development. A conference where women from across the world engaged and exchanged insightful experiences. It was a special three days that supported individual development.”
