New York, NY – In a series of meetings marking the end of his tenure, Ambassador Sedat Önal, the outgoing Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the United Nations, expressed gratitude towards UN leaders while preparing for his next diplomatic role as Ambassador to the United States.
During his farewell visit, Ambassador Önal met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. He extended his thanks for the Secretary-General’s continued support of Türkiye’s initiatives within the United Nations and reaffirmed Türkiye’s dedication to the organization’s peace and development goals.
Additionally, Ambassador Önal held a courtesy meeting with Dennis Francis, President of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He acknowledged the President’s cooperation and support throughout his tenure and wished him continued success for the remainder of the session.
Earlier this month, Türkiye replaced Önal with Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız as its permanent representative to the UN.
