TurkishJournal – Enes Kılıç – A significant section of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, collapsed into the harbor early Tuesday morning. The collapse occurred following a collision with a large freighter.
Details surrounding the incident are still emerging. Authorities identified the vessel involved as the Singapore-flagged Dali, a massive freighter measuring nearly 1,000 feet. The Coast Guard confirmed the Dali struck the bridge around 1:27 am local time.
The collapse, centered on a key portion of the bridge, represents a catastrophic infrastructure failure. Built in the late 1970s, the Key Bridge serves as a critical artery for Baltimore’s traffic flow, carrying a substantial volume of north-southbound traffic within the interstate highway system. Emergency response teams are currently mobilizing and racing to the scene to assess the situation and locate any potential victims.
