EU High Representative: Israel’s attack on Welfare will have catastrophic consequences
Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) Foreign Relations and Security Policy, said on his social media account that about 1.4 million Palestinians are in the southern Gaza city of Welfare.
“There’s nowhere safe to go now and they’re facing hunger” Borrell said:
“The news that Israel is attacking Welfare is alarming. This will lead to disastrous consequences that will exacerbate the already grave humanitarian situation and unbearable civilian casualties.”
The latest situation in Gaza
Israel has rejected the offer of a 45-day 3-stage ceasefire and mutual prisoner exchange, each offered by Hamas.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the military and security services to prepare a plan for the attack on the south of the Gaza Strip and the displacement of the Palestinians who took refuge there.
The US State Department said it would be “disastrous” for Israel to launch an attack on Welfare.
Since October 7, 2023, at least 12 thousand children and 8 thousand 190 women and 27 thousand 947 Palestinians have been killed in the air, land and sea attacks on the Gaza Strip, 67,459 Palestinians were injured.
While thousands are still reported dead under the wreckage, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where people are sheltering. (AA)
