ISTANBUL (TURKISH JOURNAL) – In an homage to the genre of Pop Art, iconic art by Andy Warhol is part of a unique exhibition opening today in Istanbul with the theme “Let Everyone Touch The Art.”
UNIQ Expo is hosting the Warhol show and this is no ordinary exhibition because Curator Begum Alkoclar and the UNIQ team have created the most extraordinary pop art wonderland with utterly delightful pop art rooms bursting with color.
Each space and room represents Warhol’s iconic work as well as those of his cohorts in pop art culture: Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist and Robert Indiana.
The exhibition, showcased in a 1,500 square meter Pop Art arena in the Maslak area is aiming for a total interactive art experience for everyone with a variety of workshops and art talks included.
What makes this exhibition so special is its quintessential design and setting where children and adults will marvel at Roy Lichtenstrin Van Gogh room, have fun with Keith Haring ‘s street graffiti and enjoy dancing in the 60s-style disco. Warhol, whose artwork remains timeless and relevant, completed a wide range of pieces during his lifetime ranging from still life pop culture objects to pop art. The artist is best known for his depiction of a 1960s American staple, Campbell soup as well as his celebrity silkscreen portraits of film legends Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe.
Featured in this unique exhibition are 90 original Warhol pieces that include his famous signature artwork of the Campbell soup cans as well as the famous silkscreen portraits.
Andy Warhol’s art is not to be missed because of all the artists in the world, Warhol can be considered one of the quirkiest and most interesting with his ‘think-outside-the-box’ creativity.
What many art aficionados may not know about Andy Warhol is that he introduced video art in the 1960s which led to his celebrity interviews that inspired his famous silkscreen portraits.
UNIQ Expo, the organization featuring the exhibition is dedicated to the culture of art and formerly showcased the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition in 2017.
Odeabank, a main sponsor for the Warhol exhibition is also dedicated to supporting the arts. As the bank’s General Manager Mert Oncu commented: “We will continue to increase our support for exhibitions that have created a place in the memories of art enthusiasts and create the opportunity to share works by giant artists such as Andy Warhol.”
