ISTANBUL (TURKISH JOURNAL) – Afghan’s President Ashraf Ghani is now in Tajikistan, according to multiple news reports including BBC and Reuters. Al-Jazeera reported earlier on Sunday that in the new transition of power plan that no role had been given to Ghani in the new government arrangements, which must still receive approval from Taliban’s political chief in Doha.
The U.S. had ensured with Taliban officials that there would be no interference in getting it’s embassy personnel out of the country. Meanwhile, Iran has set up scores of camps outside Kabul to give what Iranian officials said is temporary shelter to those fleeing Afghanistan.
In addition, Turkey expressed it’s concern about the numbers of migrants flocking to Turkey and said Pakistan needs to work alongside Turkey to help stem an influx of refugees into Turkey. Turkey already hosts masses of refugees from Syria, Iran and Iraq.
Currently, reports indicate the Taliban have officially moved into Kabul. Gunshots were reportedly heard near the presidential palace in Kabul at this time.
Meantime, the 15-member United Nations Security Council will meet by an emergency call of Estonia and Norway.
