ISTANBUL (TURKISH JOURNAL) – On Thursday, after what was identified as twin suicide bombings committed by the Khorasan branch of ISIS – Hamid Karzai InternationalAirport is in utter mayhem. Multiple casualties were reported among those are American service members and numerous injured. The Pentagon called it a “complex” attack.
On Wednesday evening, the U.S. Embassy in Kabul warned U.S. citizens and Afghans about an imminent terrorist threat and attack. The statement said US citizens and Afghans must “immediately leave” the Abbey Gate area at the airport.
Meanwhile, the brutal attacks come just five days prior to full US troop withdrawal amid ongoing evacuation operations. Major Marine Core General Frank McKenzie, head of Central Command said evacuations will continue and that more attacks are expected. He added that they will “go after” those responsible for the attacks
