WASHINGTON – U.S. President Joe Biden in a press conference on Monday about Russia’s viewpoint on recent comments he made about Russian President Vladimir Putin – said that he was “expressing his outrage” at what Putin is doing to Ukraine. In a spontaneous comment Biden out of frustration said that Putin can’t remain in power. When asked if Putin might misconstrue his remarks Biden commented: “He doesn’t care about what anyone thinks. He’s going to do what he’s going to do.”
Some analysts report that Russia is milking Biden’s remark as a way to imply that the U.S. wants to overthrow Putin. Biden’s response to such a concept was to brush it aside because he said that no matter what is said, it will get twisted.
Biden was asked if he would meet Putin again and the president said that would depend on whether there is something that can justify a meeting. He said: “Putin moves to the beat of his own drummer” and that the Russian president doesn’t even listen to his own advisers. The U.S. president said if Putin is serious about peace and ending the war he stated then that would be worth sitting down for.
Meanwhile, Editor-in-chief of Business New Europe and East Europe Specialist Ben Ari’s, told TRT World that Putin’s war has caused Russia massive economic fallout and that Putin will need “a really good story” to convince Russians about his justification for such a war. Aris added that for Putin to retain power – he will simply tighten the already chokehold reins on the Russian press and his citzen’s freedoms. Aris added that this puts Putin’s leadership in a precarious position and that Russian people are likely to protest more vehemently.
