NEW YORK- On Wednesday, the U.S. embassy in Russia urged all American citizens and those with dual citizenship to immediately flee Russia. The embassy warned about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s conscription strategy which they stated could affect dual citizens as well.
The embassy posted an emergency alert on its website with regard to those holding dual citizenship who might end up being conscripted into the military and sent to Ukraine to fight in the war. The embassy also warned that Americans in Russia who want to leave the country, must make their own arrangements as the embassy can’t guarantee their safety and is not able to evacuate its citizens in light of the situation there.
