ISTANBUL- A huge swath of eastern Türkiye has been under ongoing quakes and aftershocks with the latest quake at 1:50 pm in Malatya, a quake in Kharamanmaras at 1:24 pm with ongoing aftershocks and quakes in Adana, Sanliurfa, Osmaniye, Hatay and surrounding areas.
NTV reported that the majority of buildings destroyed in the quake are on average at least 25 years old. The largest destruction so far has occured in Kharamanmaras. Two earthquakes have occurred there today. In addition, a bridge in Hatay was torn in half by the quake.
Meanwhile, Over 200 buildings in Hatay were destroyed so far, in the quake.
Other cities affected include Adiyaman, Malatya, Hatay, Adana, Osmaniye and surrounding areas. A number of children are being and have been recoverd from the rubble of demolished buildings with aftershocks ongoing in a number of areas.
The latest report from NTV shows two children rescued from the rubble who are being treated by emergency personnel at the scene of the demolished buildings. Emergency personnel are still working to locate those remaining under the building rubble.
