NEW YORK, (Turkish Journal) – Pia Bozyel – Pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protesters came face to face in New York, USA.
Demonstrators gathered near the Israeli Consulate General in New York.
At the protest, which took place under heavy security measures by the police, the pro-Palestinian group shouted slogans “Freedom for Palestine” and “End the occupation”.
The group moved from the famous Times Square with Palestinian flags in their hands and came to the consulate general.
On the other hand, the pro-Israeli group chanted slogans such as “We want democracy” and “Give us back our families” and opened banners with US and Israeli flags in their hands.
Due to extensive security measures taken by the New York Police, physical contact between the two groups was prevented.
Hamas, announced that they had launched a comprehensive operation called “Aqsa Flood” against Israel from the blockaded Gaza Strip.
Israel, on the other hand, announced that they were “at war” in response to this operation.
