NEW YORK (TURKISH JOURNAL) – Pia Bozyel – United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres said, “Crucial life-saving supplies – including fuel, food and water – must be allowed into Gaza. We need rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access now. “
Guterres spoke to reporters at UN headquarters about the latest developments evolving in Israel and occupied Palestinian Territories.
Citing that he has been following the “dramatic events” closely, Guterres said that he is in continuous contact with regional leaders.
Guterres appealed to all parties involved to avoid escalation of tensions, warning, “We must avoid spillover of the conflict.”
Emphasizing that “Civilians must be protected at all times. International humanitarian law must be respected and upheld.” Guterres also called upon the release of all Israeli hostages.

Guterres, mentioned that more than 220 thousand Palestinians are displaced, underlining the importance of not targeting UN facilities, hospitals, schools and clinics.
Secretary General emphasized that “Crucial life-saving supplies – including fuel, food and water — must be allowed into Gaza. We need rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access now.” while thanking Egypt for its constructive role in facilitating humanitarian access through the Rafah crossing.
