ISTANBUL- As Turkiye gets ready for its 100th anniversary celebrations, a very special event will take place on Sunday to commemorate the 100 years of the Turkish Republic. The 100th Anniversary Republic Women’s Run will happen on the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge in Istanbul this Sunday. The women-only event’s message is “The Republic and Women, Together Strong.” In addition to the unique running event, there will also be a first-ever pedestrian event. The 5-kilometer run (3.1 miles) starts at 9 a.m. from the European side of Istanbul and crosses to the Asian side via the bridge. The run is for charity with contributions from major sponsors with funds to be raised for various organizations that include Darussafaka, Toplum Gonulluleri (TOG), Tuvana Okuma Istekli Cocuk Egitim Vakfi (TOCEV), Turk Egitim Dernegi (TED), Turkiye Atletizm Vakfi and Yanindayiz Demegi.
