Philippe Lazzarini, General Commissioner for the United Nations Agency for the Relief and Public Works of Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said violence has reached its highest level in the West Bank since October 7. (AA)

Lazzarini made statements on his social media account about the consequences of his increased attacks on the Israeli-occupied West Bank since October 7th.
Stating that the number, duration and intensity of “operations” by Israeli forces against refugee camps in the West Bank has increased since October 7, Lazzarini said the attacks have expanded southward.

The UN official said: “Through increasing settler violence, this situation is causing people who seek security to flee their homes. According to 2022 last year, the number of Palestinians killed had tripled, we thought we saw the worst. At least 100 children of those killed in more than 90 days. Given that it is even harder to track the loss of life, it becomes clear how violence becomes widespread.”

Lazzarini stressed that Israeli raids have also damaged water and electricity grids, “folding economic woes” in the region.

Lazzarini, who stated that violence reached the highest level in the West Bank, said that the region was in a “disastrous cycle of pain and suffering.

Since October 7, 2023 in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, 369 Palestinians have died in attacks by Israeli forces and illegal Jewish settlers.(AA)
