According to the results that emerged after the voters cast their ballots, Russian President Vladimir Putin won the elections in his country and received 87.8% of the votes.
71-year-old Putin won by a significant margin against his rivals, as announced in a press conference in Moscow by the country’s Central Election Committee, based on the official initial results, receiving more than 88% of the voters’ support. These results grant him a fifth presidential term, lasting six years until 2030.
The newly elected president will take the constitutional oath after the official announcement of the results and will continue in office as the country’s fifth president.
