By Vildan Kabasakal. The foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) countries will meet at an extraordinary meeting Tuesday, April 16th, to assess developments after Iran’s attack on Israel.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, who announced on account X, called on EU foreign ministers to meet via video conference on April 16th.
Borrell said, “Our goal is to contribute to the lowering and security of the region.
The EU strongly condemned Iran’s attack on Israel, calling it “a serious threat to regional security.
Iran-Israeli tensions
Israel launched an air strike on Iran’s consular building in Damascus on April 1st. 2 Of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Army, 7 generals were killed in the attack.
Iran said the Israeli consular attack meant an attack on its country’s territory and that it would retaliate. Israel said it would respond to Iran’s attacks.
Iran launched an attack on Israel yesterday with hundreds of kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles, ballistic and cruise missiles, saying some military targets had been hit.
Israel said most of the attacks were prevented by air defense systems, but a missile hit a military base in the south. (AA)
