Meet Seda Karakaya, a strong-willed artist and disability rights champion who is from Türkiye. Despite life’s challenges, Seda confronts them with fierce determination and hope. Living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 2, she navigates the world with her wheelchair, shaping her path with courage and creativity.
From a young age, Seda has harbored a profound love for language and art, channeling her inner world onto paper and establishing a profound bond with creativity. Despite facing physical obstacles in her schooling, Seda persevered with resolute determination, achieving remarkable success in her education journey.
Last year, Seda graduated with honors from the Russian Language and Literature department, leading the Disabled Students Community and advocating fervently for disability rights throughout her university tenure. Through diverse internships, she garnered international exposure, culminating in a groundbreaking internship in Germany as the first severely physically disabled Erasmus intern from her university.
Acknowledged for her unwavering commitment to disability rights advocacy, Seda’s voice reverberates across international platforms. She showcased her art as a guest art exhibition artist at an international conference in Bucharest and participated in a training program on disability rights in Denmark.
Currently, Seda eagerly awaits the commencement of her master’s journey in Linguistics at Heinrich Heine Düsseldorf University. However, securing financial aid is imperative for Seda and her primary caregivers (mother and brother) to support her through this endeavor. Your assistance is crucial in covering the one-year living expenses required for the national visa for her educational pursuit in Germany.
The primary motivation behind Seda’s pursuit of a master’s degree in Germany lies in the awareness, opportunities, and accessibility provided for disabled individuals there. With her progressive muscle disease, she seeks a more comfortable and accessible future.
Join Seda Karakaya’s expedition as she ardently pursues her dreams. Your support will empower her to continue her educational journey and champion disability rights, serving as an inspiration for others to surmount obstacles and embrace hope for the future.
