Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized European countries planning to officially recognize a Palestinian state next week, accusing them of supporting terrorism.
“The intention of several European countries to recognize a Palestinian state is a reward for terror,” Netanyahu stated in a release from his office.
Earlier on Wednesday, Ireland, Spain, and Norway announced their plans to formally recognize a Palestinian state, effective May 28.
“This will be a terror state, aiming to repeat the attacks of October 7th, and we will not agree to that,” Netanyahu asserted, emphasizing, “this evil must not be given a state.”
He further stated, “Rewarding terror will not bring peace and will not deter us from defeating Hamas.”
